Summer Robotics

Delware County Christian School is hosting a FREE summer robotics program on Tuesday nights from 6-8pm. It starts June 19 and continues through August 14 at the upper campus. We are opening this to the entire Metro Philadelphia region. The purpose is to generate lots of new teams in the area and to give the mentors of those teams the training and contacts that they need to be successful in the future. If you are interested in mentoring a robotics team, come and learn how. If you have kids that want to be part of a team, bring them as well. We will be playing with robots every Tuesday night!

I Can Hear You

Have you noticed that your hearing has been improving at worship? Actually, it is the sound system rather than your ears. I noticed the change when I came back and was sitting in my usual spot. I'm told that you can now even hear in the choir loft. The sound system is still being worked on, as new speakers are being added. Those of you sitting in the Amen corners will be able to say "Amen" sometime soon, as new speakers will be directed there. The back of the sanctuary will also have new speakers.

And even the pulpit area is getting new sound. I was a test hearer this morning, sitting in one of the pulpit chairs while Clive Stockdale read the Bible. I could hear every word! That means the next time Liam says something, then turns and looks at me while the congregation is chuckling, I will know what's going on.

Community in Overseas Medical Ministry: Sunday, June 3

Medical Campus Outreach invites all allied healthcare students and professionals to a luncheon on Sunday, June 3, 12:45-2:00 pm in Fellowship Hall West. Dr. John Cropsey, one of Tenth's global partners, will speak on community in overseas medical ministry.

You may remember that John and Jessica recently completed World Medical Mission's two year post-residency program at Tenwek Hospital in Kenya. What's unusual about their experience? They initially cultivated a team in the U.S. during their med school and residency days--the McCropders (McLaughlins, Cropseys, and Faders). They went over together as a team, grew together, and chose their next field of service (Burundi) together. Additionally, they wrote a team blog chronicling their experiences along the way!

No Flash

As posted earlier, R. C. Sproul is preaching Sunday morning. You will be seeing an announcement about not taking flash pictures either during or after the services. Sproul's medical condition is such that flashes can seriously affect him.

I am reminded of mine and Ginger's wedding a "few" years ago. As she reached the front of the small sanctuary, it seemed like half of the guests took flash pictures. I was nearly blinded. I think she was the woman I was looking at when saying my vows.

Evil Men

Proverbs 2:12-15

12 delivering you from the way of evil,
from men of perverted speech,
13 who forsake the paths of uprightness
to walk in the ways of darkness,
14 who rejoice in doing evil
and delight in the perverseness of evil,
15 men whose paths are crooked,
and who are devious in their ways.

Roommate Request

I am a female law student moving to Philadelphia at the end of August. I would ideally like to share a two-bedroom apartment in University City or Center City. I am looking for something relatively inexpensive, but clean, safe, and close to Penn Law and/or public transportation. Other details are flexible! I am very easy-going, quiet, and clean, I love to cook, and I will probably be studying a lot this coming year! I also hope to start attending Tenth regularly.  I am looking for both an apartment and a roommate, so please email me if you can help with either!

Look for the little green dots

We are ramping up for WOW which starts June 3 and we need you to scan your shelves at home for church library books with the little green stickers on their spines. Those tiny lime dots mark them as missions related books essential to our WOW passport program. We want to have them in place and ready to go.  If your kids checked them out last summer, we'd appreciate your returning them now.
Of course if you find any other books from the church library we would love to have them back too.

R. C. Sproul

R. C. Sproul will be preaching in the morning this coming Sunday. His text and title are: Luke 4:42-44, "The Gospel of the Kingdom." R. C. may well be the most widely published American theologian. He is a long-time friend of Tenth, having spoken in many PCRT conferences, and was a close friend of James Boice. Check out his Ligonier Ministries. And if you are looking for a sound daily devotional, subscribe to his monthly Table Talk.

Biblical Learning

InFaith (formerly American Missionary Fellowship) has provided a tremendous resource for Christians. Check out Biblical Learning, which provides free courses drawn from the teachings of Christian leaders such as James Boice and R. C. Sproul. I am looking at this moment at a video series by Dr. Boice on the attributes of God.

Summer Bible School

The summer Bible school offerings typically decrease, but this year you have much to choose from. At the 9:00 hour you will have the following:

The Disaster of the Fool

Proverbs 1:26-33

26  I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when terror strikes you,
27  when terror strikes you like a storm
and your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
when distress and anguish come upon you.
28  Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer;
they will seek me diligently but will not find me.
