Blood Drive

Tuesday, December 4, Tenth is hosting another blood drive. You can sign up on Sunday to reserve a time or drop in on Tuesday between noon and 6:00. I use to give regularly but am now disqualified. Because I once used insulin made from beef products, I am considered a risk to pass on mad cow disease. The insulin also came from pork products, and nobody is accusing me of passing on really angry pig disease.

Campaign Inserts

I am catching up with reading and just saw the first two bulletin inserts answering questions about the capital campaign. They can be accessed, by the way at the church website (see link on right). You will see a link on the front page that then takes you to the inserts. The first insert has an extremely well written essay on why now is the time to undertake such a campaign. The second begins a series of answering questions people have been asking and then presenting a specific project from the campaign. The most recent presents the project to renovate facilities. Here is an exerpt that presents some specifics:

"Included in this project are the following main improvements: 1) new flooring, sound system, and lighting in the sanctuary, 2) reconfigured choir loft and renovated tower office above the music office, 3) new bathrooms and carpets in the Catacombs, and 4) a new kitchen and sound system for Fellowship Hall."

Congregational Meeting

Don't forget the congregational meeting Friday night. The meeting itself is at 7:30 in the sanctuary. Dinner at 6:00 for those who signed up.

We will be voting on:
Elders, Deacons, Deaconesses
2008 Budget

A final report will also be given by the Strategic Planning Committee.

Going Up

I walked by the parking lot on 17th between Spruce and Locust, the one that has been displaying a sign about multi-million dollar condos. Looks like construction has begun. The lot is torn up with big trucks sitting on it. I'm glad I was able to make my deposit in time. It's a surprise for Ginger.

Day of Prayer

The quarterly Day of Prayer is this Sunday. I encourage you not to be like the majority of Bible school attenders who skip attending. I am preparing today the outline for the two prayer meetings. I will be leading the prayer time at 9:00 in Fellowship Hall, and Jerry McFarland will lead the 11:00 time in the 315 Building, 1st floor rear which is handicapped accessible. I will post the outline either today or tomorrow. Please come. I think others who have attended will attest that it is an encouraging time in strengthening our prayer life and faith.
