Elders' Retreat

Be praying for the elders' retreat that meets tonight and tomorrow morning. We will be reviewing the progress of implementing the new mission statement. This will include discussing the research of the committee assigned to evaluate the projects of a potential capital funds campaign.

CCA-Spruce Hill Board

The new board of CCA and Spruce Hill schools had its second meeting last night. Keith Fallon and I serve as co-chairs. Committees have been formed and most have met - Advancement, Education, Finance, Building and Grounds, and a Merger committee responsible to complete the legal work to bring the two schools in to one entity. We have set a date for a spring banquet - May 4.

Low Stress Volunteer Job

MereBreath rehearsals start on January 21, and the touring drama troupe of Tenth still has need of two back-up tech positions—Lighting and Audio. No experience necessary. This is a low-stress, minimal commitment way to discover what this exciting ministry is all about. Please contact Director Bryan Glass at: mereBreath@aol.com

Visitors from Japan

This Sunday, we will have 10 guests: students from Christ Bible Seminary (CBS) in Nagoya, Japan with us at the 11:00 and 6:30 service. They are about half-way through a US Vision trip, to see churches that partner with CBS. They'll be spending time in Philadelphia for the week, seeing the city and visiting Tenth and Korean United Church.

If you see them Sunday, be sure to welcome them!

New Dombach Son

Morna and Darv Dombach announce the birth another son yesterday. No name yet. They were caught off guard, as Morna had another six weeks to go. Be in prayer for mother and baby. The labor was brought on by emergency treatment of a leg infection of the mother.

Gator Domination

Does anyone know where Jonathan Olsen and Rick Phillips can be found? If I recall, they were Michigan diehards who believed Michigan should have been playing Ohio State for the national championship.

Motorists' Laws

Joe Brydges sent this in from Septa's notices:

Effective January 29, 2007 all motorists MUST turn on their headlights whenever they use their windshield wipers in inclement weather. This new law applies when wipers are fully on or in intermittent mode. Violators will be fined $25 but fees/other costs will increase the amount to $100!!!

Also, motorists will suffer substantial penalties if snow or ice on their vehicle injures or kills someone. This is the first winter this law will be on the books. Spread this information to all PA drivers that you know. (This information was also published in this past Sunday's Inquirer). Don't get a ticket because you were not knowledgeable about this new law.

Fred Simon

I've just received word that Tina Simon's husband Fred died early this morning. Plans have changed since I first posted this. The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday in Connecticut. Cards may be sent to 1925 Lawrence Road, The Waterford Apartments, G-3, Havertown, PA 19083. Be in prayer for her and Fred's family - his father, brother, and sister.
