2-3 Female Roommates Wanted in W. Philly

Two rooms available in a 3-story 2700 SF house in University City. Seeking 2-3 young women to join one whom already occupies the third bedroom. Rent is $600/mo per person - could be cheaper if you choose to share the larger bedroom. Includes gas and electric, water and internet is split among all occupants. The house is huge, in a nice neighborhood, with lots of parking, proximity to public transit, and within walking distance of Penn/Drexel. If interested, or for more information, please contact Merrylee Morschhauser.

Homestead Exemption

With the city now in the process of reassessing all private residences for tax purposes, you may find this new home legislation helpful: http://cityofphiladelphia.wordpress.com/2012/06/01/tax-relief-is-knocking/. Thanks to Frances Swink for the info.

(By the way, this weekend will be a stressful one for Frances, being a Clemson alumna. Her Tigers will be playing the South Carolina Gamecocks in the baseball playoffs, and recent history has not been kind to her school when facing my school.)

Grace and Peace

Grace and Peace Church have reached agreement to rent facilities for worship on the corner of 17th Street and Washington Avenue. Next, they need to begin renovations before moving in. Pray for the work to move in a timely manner. They would love to celebrate their second anniversary in mid-July in their new building.

Discovery Session on Missions this Saturday

Our next Discovery session is this Saturday, and we’ll be talking about how you determine God’s leading in your life for missions. We will have three missionaries join us to share how they have worked through the process of sensing God’s purpose for their lives, especially as it relates to cross-cultural missions. All of the details are on our website: www.phillydiscovery.wordpress.com .

Please encourage people to attend. The group is designed for anyone interested in cross-cultural service—from those just beginning to consider whether God wants them in missions to those who are well into the support-raising process.

Picnic Warning

I know many of you are looking forward to the church picnic tomorrow, but for conscience sake I feel I should warn parents about the dangers of the picnic activities for their kids listed as "children's games." I mean, Pat Canavan runs a pretty loose ship, and your child could end up in the same situation as this kid on video.

CCA Principal

After serving three years as principal of City Center Academy, Owen Davis is moving on to serve as principal of Santiago Christian School in the Dominican Republic. Yes, by strange coincidence, that is the same school of which Seth Cohen is headmaster.

After an extensive search, CCA's present headmaster Jake Becker is pleased to announce a new principal.

Looking for a place to stay in Medford, NJ

Help! I am looking for a place to stay in Medford, NJ because I will be there for 6 weeks starting July 2.  I am looking for a cheap place to stay Sunday to Wednesday nights and am wondering if perhaps there are any people from Tenth that live out there that I can either stay with or might be able to help me find a room I can rent for a few weeks?  Please email Melody here

The Church of...

I thought this past Sunday I could relax and not be worried about comments that might come out of the preacher's mouth. Of course, I should have known better, since R. C. Sproul was the speaker: "We know that Tenth Church is not the church of Barnhouse or the church of Di Gangi or the church of Boice or Ryken or Goligher. We all know that it is the church of Carroll Wynne!"

Church Picnic

The church picnic is but three days away! Typically I post all the information here on the blog, but click this link to take you to the church website. It is has all the information, and you must see the action photo.

Male housemate wanted in Center City or University City

I am looking for a male, Christian roommate who is either already in a two bedroom apartment in the city and looking for a roommate, or someone who is planning on moving to the city in the next couple of months and would like to find a place with me. I’m a quiet, laid back, easy-going person who enjoys cooking, listening to and playing music (guitar and some piano), and spending time with friends from college, young adults Bible study, and other social spheres.

Jan Coudriet

Whether you called him “Mr. Jan” or “Mr. C”, the head of Camp Sankanac will always be known as a man who loved the Lord, His Gospel and children. After 29 years as the Director, Mr. Jan was called home to be with his Lord this past Wednesday night very suddenly.  With a few friends of the camp and their church surrounding them -- about 600 -- the family held a service this past Sunday night which, with testimonies of his ministry and life stretched over three and a half hours.  No doubt memories, stories (and legends) will continue on throughout the summer. For more, go to: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/timesherald/obituary.aspx?n=jan-robert-coudriet&pid=157779038

What a Week!

My, my - what a week for John Canavan. On Tuesday, the Session voted to call him as the new full-time director of Tenth College Fellowship. Then later in the week, he convinces Sharon Miller to accept his proposal of marriage!

Hey, New Jersey Tenth members, what's going on over there in your state? I just looked at this video.
