Extra Seating

Well, I'll post this announcement, but I don't see how it applies to any Tenth family.

We would like to open up the Catacombs for extra seating for Sunday night, if we need it, but mainly as a place where parents can take restless or upset children to during the service so there is not too much disruption. (For any nonTenth readers, the Catacombs is our nicely furnished basement, not a burial place.)

Office Admin Wanted

City Church is hiring a part-time office administrator. Qualified applicants are responsible, organized, detail-oriented and can plan ahead. A background in accounting or finance is not necessary, but strong computer skills (especially with spreadsheets) are a must. Please email Jason Hsu for a job description and more information.

80 Minutes

"Around the World in 80 Minutes" meets this Sunday, 12:40-2:00 in Fellowship Hall. Suggested donation for lunch: $4/individual, $10/family). Steve, who has been serving in S. Asia will give an update. I will attest that he is an interesting story teller.

Assisting Liam

Liam's new personal assistant is Elizabeth Carlson, who will retain her City Outreach and event coordination duties. She is now posted outside his office. In addition, Terri Taylor, who runs special projects for Global Outreach, will carry on similar duties for Liam. I must say, he is starting off with a very strong team around him.

Sunday's Installation

I have the bulletin announcements in front of me for this Sunday. Let's see...

Oh, this is the Sunday of Liam's installation (I mean, induction). I probably should be planning for it. It will be in the evening service. Be sure to arrive before 6:15. None of the youth/children's programs will be meeting - Maranatha, Schola, Catechism Club, Bible ABC Club. There will, however, be nursery for ages 3 and under. I believe we are able to offer that because of volunteers from our daughter churches helping.

Vacation...er...Holiday

I had many well-wishers on Sunday for the vacation I supposedly was beginning today, so many that I thought something had been placed in the bulletin. Ginger and I are taking a vacation (or perhaps I should say "holiday" for our UK staff) that will begin next Monday, May 23. We will be visiting our daughter Jean in Norway, where my son-in-law Lucas ran off with her. Thanks to Skype, we secretly are able to keep in touch while he is at work. Then we will make a pilgrimage to visit the sacred sites where Liam Goligher walked and ministered - London and Scotland.

The images are best viewed when the store is open and the security gate is up.

Wanted: Missing Library Books

We're gearing up for WOW! Sadly, a scan of the library shelves shows that we are missing some of the books are our Passport patrons will want to read over the summer. If you are a parent, would you please check to see if you have tucked away in your house church library books about crosscultural workers? You can readily identify them by the green sticker on the spine.

Thanks for the help!

PCRT 2012

The Gospel: What? Why? How?

Well, you will find out at next year's PCRT. The dates have been set for April 20-22.

Doris Schroth

We have received word that former Tenth member Doris Schroth died last Wednesday, May 11. Doris and her husband Chuck (who passed away in January 2010) lived on the ground floor of the church manse (1827 Delancey) and worked with Tenth’s international student program. Chuck was the church administrator from from 1973 to 1978. After Tenth, he founded MATS (Missionary Auto/Truck Service).

Installing Liam

The new Liam Goligher era has begun. (Already I see that I am going to have to work on his "off-the-cuff" remarks.)

Although Liam does not like the term "install," we nevertheless will install him officially as Senior Minister next Sunday evening, May 22. More accurately, Philadelphia Presbytery will install him. Be sure to arrive before 6:15, when the music begins. I anticipate a packed sanctuary.
