Teachers Needed in Paraguay

Teachers needed in Paraguay. Looking for an opportunity to serve cross-culturally without having to learn another language? Two schools in Asuncion, Paraguay are looking for English speaking teachers to teach all subjects and grade levels. One is a private Christian school for MKs and the other is a private secular school for Paraguayan children. Email Melody Istrati.

Headmaster Jonathan Jones

Grace and Peace member Jonathan Jones has been named as the Headmaster for the Upper School at Stratford Classical Christian Academy in Stratford, NJ.

Photo Finish

The front page photo of yesterday's Inquirer (of a woman crossing the finishing line) was shot by Tenth member Abi Reimhold. Her Dad participates in triathlons, but she shoots them!

Prayer Clarification

I want to clarify what could have been misconstrued in my sermon about prayer. I noted how we as Christians can use prayer language loosely, to the point that we say "pray for me" and "I'll pray for you" as mere conversation starters and endings. Nevertheless, it is good to ask for prayer and to assure that we will pray. My point is that prayer is the activity we all assume is what we ought to be doing, so much so that we rarely admit to ourselves that we do little of it even as we make so much reference to it.

So, ask for prayer; say that you will pray; but be sure to pray!

Another Helping Ministry

People for People is a non-profit organization established by Herb Lusk, senior pastor of Greater Exodus Baptist Church on the corner of Broad and Fairmount. They recently received a federal grant to:

serve individuals ages 18-21 who were involved in the juvenile justice system from the age of 14 or older but were never convicted as adults under federal or state law. Through training projects, service learning opportunities and educational interventions, participants will earn high school diplomas and industry-recognized credentials.

Pop Up Garden

I am too late posting an invitation to the PHS Pop Up Garden opening, but you still can still visit this urban garden located on the empty lot of the 1900 block of Walnut. Click here for more info.

Dawn's Place

The Inquirer has an article about Dawn's Place, sort of a Philadelphian version of the work we support in Ghana that rehabilitates prostitutes.

Alert by Prayer

Sunday morning's sermon, "Alert by Prayer," on Ephesians 6:18-24 is now available by manuscript.
