The Romans Experience

So, I am reading up on the actor David Suchet, most notably known for his portrayal of Agatha Christie's detective Hercule Poirot.

"I converted to Christianity in 1986, and it is the most important thing in my life. It all started in a hotel in America, where I suddenly felt the need to read the Bible again. I looked everywhere, but could not find one in my room, so I went straight out and bought a New Testament and started to read. As I read Paul's letter to the Romans, all the words seemed to make such wonderful sense, and I realised then that this was a way of life that I had always been looking for."

Romans does it again!

The Forbidden Woman

Proverbs 5:1-6

1 My son, be attentive to my wisdom;
incline your ear to my understanding,
2 that you may keep discretion,
and your lips may guard knowledge.
3 For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey,
and her speech is smoother than oil,
4 but in the end she is bitter as wormwood,
sharp as a two-edged sword.

Robert Polen

It is lunch time. Staff  have gathered on the fourth floor. Robert Polen is in his usual seat at the end closest to his office. And as usual, he is expounding on whatever topic has come up – movies, theology, restaurants, popular culture, history, sports, etc. Even without his smartphone, Robert knows a lot, and better yet, is interesting to listen to. He combines two traits not easy to master for a young man – being knowledgeable without being conceited. To this description we use one of Robert’s common responses, “fair enough.”

Grace House - help needed

Tenth owns a house for visiting missionaries in Upper Darby, PA, which requires two types of maintenance, particularly when the house is not occupied: 1) regular care of the small yard during the growing season, including cutting grass, trimming the hedge and minor weeding/trimming; and 2) occasional maintenance and repairs inside the house, such as fixing a “sticking” door, broken chair or ceiling fan; and installing and removing air conditioners.  The need for help will begin in late August. If you are interested in helping with either or both of these tasks, contact Tom Witmer at 215.546.0369 or witmer2@comcast.net.
