Hola from Mexico!
Greetings from Bruce and the SMI team in Texas/Mexico! Yesterday, the team split into two groups and set up a clinic in Matamoros, Mexico. At Bruce's clinic they saw 45 patients and had several opportunities to share the gospel and pray with them.
This morning Bryan Stoudt is teaching the group, and this afternoon they will be doing door-to-door health screening in Texas. Pray for many opportunities to share the love of Christ.

What Matters
I've just printed out a new manuscript, the result of my March study leave. It is called "What Matters," and presents the five most important spiritual lessons I have learned. Copies will be available in the church lobbies. I hope to record sometime soon and post on our website.

Preaching Prayer Request
Dan Kunkle sent in this prayer request:
I have the privilege this coming Sunday (July 8), and then again in August, to preach at Living Hope Fellowship. This is an English-speaking congregation connected with a Vietnamese church with ties to the Christian Missionary Alliance. I would appreciate your prayers this week. Thanks.

Stacey Woods Biography
Yesterday I attended a book signing of the biography C. Stacey Woods and the Evangelical Rediscovery of the University, written by A. Donald MacLeod. Stacey Woods was instrumental in the founding of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, and the first general secretary of InterVarsity in the US. If you have been influenced by InterVarsity (which is hard not to be either through its college ministry, Urbana conferences, or publishing company), then Stacey Woods influenced your life. He was supported by our church and his widow Yvonne attends here.
An exerpt from the back of the book: "[P]erhaps his most striking achievement was challenging the anti-intellectualism of conservative American Christianity, encouraging an active engagement with the university. He confronted a fundamentalism that had abandoned to liberalism the very educational institutions it forebears had founded. Woods turned this approach on its head, encouraging active engagement with the students and faculty of the university as well as with the institution itself."

Return of the Teams
Our teams to N. Ireland and to Odessa are back. Well, mostly. Some of the Odessa team traveled on. We hope they will come back! From the brief reports I have heard, both teams were excited about their trips, especially seeing the work of God's kingdom in other parts of the world. I believe we will get full reports at the next missions lunch which typically is the fourth Sunday of the month.
I believe the SMI team has left. The Colombia team leaves July 14. Next Sunday is the last Sunday to leave supplies for that team: kids' T-shirts, backpacks, DVDs (Christian and children's), school supplies, vitamins, over-the-counter medications, first aid supplies, and painting and drawing supplies. Donations may be left in the Delancey lobby or brought to the Catacombs during the children's Bible school opening exercises. Bruce is also taking donations of used laptop computers to give to pastors.

Top 100
So, I am reading my copy of World magazine and come to Marvin Olasky's top 100 books he has read over the past seven years and recommends to his readers (after culling from a list of 400 books). Dr. Boice's book, Whatever Happened to the Gospel of Grace, is listed as well as that of another Tenth minister Bruce McDowell's Muslims and Christians at the table.
