TIF Lunar New Year Dinner

Join Tenth International Fellowship on Saturday, January 28, at 5:30 pm in Fellowship Hall, for a festive Lunar New Year Dinner. We'll feast on Chinese food from a local restaurant, enjoy music, and learn from a special message in Chinese and English.

All internationals are warmly invited to attend, as are all Tenth members and regular attenders. Cost is $7/working adult. All others are free. RSVPs are requested. Click here to RSVP.
Liam's birthday is tomorrow, January 14. You did not hear this from me.

Norovirus

Fullfilled your purpose?

Well, that's an annoying question to contemplate in middle-age, but I suppose it's not too late. That's why I've now marked my calendar to attend Os Guinness's lecture at Tenth on February 17 titled, "The Call: Finding and Fulfilling the Purpose of Your Life." It's part of the vocational initiative's new Framework Lecture series aimed at providing "Biblical teaching on issues addressing Faith and Work."

Really, I can't wait. I remember savoring Dr. Guinness' books in college. He's known for his compelling, insightful analysis and speaks frequently for both the Veritas and Trinity Forums. Mark your calendars too!

"Spring" Lodging

RUF (Reformed University Fellowship) is holding its Mid-Atlantic Spring Conference in Philadelphia, February 3-5. Yes, you read it right - Spring Conference the first week of February. We will not quibble over how they choose to label their conference. What they need is lodging for 55 college students. The conference is being held at Pilgrim Presbyterian Church near Manayunk. If you can help, go to this site.

School of Circus Arts

Seeing below the posting of a housing need for a "circus arts" student caught my attention. We do indeed have the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts. Just don't let Liam know. I'd be afraid of what ideas would come into his head.

Join us this Sunday for our services.

PM (6:30): Dr. Liam Goligher preaching “Two Cities: One Story” (Acts 9:19b–31). Hymns: Hail, Thou Once Despised Jesus!; The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want; O Bless the Lord, My Soul.

Commuting to Church

After sending out the information about new parking restrictions, Jordan McLead reminded me that a means of travel is the public transit system. I have often taken the 32 Bus into church myself. The church is in walking distance of Suburban station, as well as the final stop of the NJ transit, and of many bus routes. Sunday schedules are available at septa.org. Jordan sent in these other resources as well.

Circus Arts Student Needs Housing

We are a Wheatland PCA family from Lancaster, PA looking for housing for our 19 year old daughter, Hannah. She is attending classes at Philadelphia school of circus arts and needs to be close by to continue pursuing this in a serious way. She is looking to rent a room in someone's home. Email Darlene.

Honoring Jennifer

Today the staff honored Jennifer Maddox Beauford at a luncheon. She retired the end of December for health reasons, having served 15 years here. It was quite moving to hear the many tributes made. We were pleased to have Jonathan Olsen come and take part. Phil Ryken emailed remarks, which represent much of what different staff stood up to say. I will include them here.
