Help a Transplant Donor

A friend of a Tenth member (Matthew Wright) is from Indiana and is in Philadelphia for a few days. She is a match for an unrelated young child in need of a bone marrow transplant and needs childcare for two of her children from approximately noon to 3PM this Tuesday, November 14, while she goes to a medical appointment related to her donation. She is willing to pay the going rate for child care in this area. Prefer to have someone connected with Tenth, as she does not know many people in the area now. Please contact sarahhao09 *at* gmail *dot* com if you are available and willing to help her. Thanks!

Name Dropping

Hhmm...I've received word of the second baby named Ryken, no doubt out of idol worship. Let me just note that the adoptive parents of Superman did not name their child Ryken Kent and that movie producers did not turn to Ryken Gable to star in Gone with the Wind. So, if you really do have high aspirations for your newborns, there is another name to consider.

Preparing for College

Startling Photograph

Dear Board of Trustees of Wheaton College:

This is an inquiry into the academic program of your school. Please know that we send our students to a school such as yours to keep them from falling into strange behavior. When Josiah Cohen and Josh Ryken left our church, they were mature young men for whom we had high aspirations. And yet in two months time, we are receiving photographs such as this, which was evidently submitted by the President of Wheaton College, as though he were pleased with what is taking place. Need I add that the professor in the picture, in whose hands we thought they could most be trusted, appears to be the primary influence.

International Banquet

Maybe I'm biased, but I really think Global Outreach's international banquet is the best congregational dinner of the year. If you've never been, you should come. And if you've been before, all I need to say is: You can find the link for registration here.

Dinner starts at 6:30. The food being brought in from Hummus Restaurant includes hummus, chicken, beef and schwarma kabobs, and baklava. Delicious Middle Eastern cuisine.

If you have international garb, wear it--and it's not the sweater made in China I have in mind . .

Parade of Flags

A shout-out to our fourth- and fifth-graders who did a wonderful job marching in our Parade of Flags yesterday morning at both morning services!  The flags will remain up in our sanctuary through next Sunday.
