Preschool in the works!

Maybe you've noticed the quiet announcement at the bottom of page 8 of the bulletin: "Tenth is accepting applications for a part-time preschool director and a part-time teacher." Yes, a preschool!
We plan to open in September 2013 with a class three mornings a week for three year-olds and two mornings a week for two year-olds. If enrollment warrants it, we'd add a four year-old class. We need your prayers as we plan: Pray that this preschool helps us to connect with our neighbors and that we love and serve them well through it. Pray that the Lord leads us to the right personnel. If you have people to recommend, please point them to the job descriptions on the web site. If you'd like information, please contact me.

Hurricane Sandy Relief with PCA Mission to North America

This is a follow-up to the announcement in the bulletin in how to help with Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts in the neighborhood.

On October 29, Hurricane Sandy devastated the Jersey Shore as well as other parts of the US. As a response, Tenth City Network organized a small team to work with the PCA’s Mission to North America (MNA) in Atlantic City. We were assigned to New City Fellowship of Atlantic City led by Pastor Santo Garofalo. On November 17, our team of 8 brothers and sisters partnered with Penn Graduate Christian Fellowship, and went down to Ventnor, NJ.

Pray for Brady

Brady Blanton, 12 weeks old, has scheduled surgery on December 14th at CHOP.  His condition is called sagittal synostosis.  The purpose of the surgery is to relieve pressure on his brain and reconstruct his skull.  He will need a blood transfusion as well.  Specifically pray that God will watch over the surgery team and that Brady will be sustained during surgery and recovery.  Pray, also, for mom and dad, Erin and Jesse (a friend who is Diaconal Chair at Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church in Delaware).

Summer Medical Institute 2013 Student Application

The Summer Medical Institute returns to Philadelphia, June 29-July 20, 2013! During this dynamic three-week program, health professions students learn to address health needs of the largely low-income, urban community in North Philadelphia and integrate their faith and medical practice. This is a fantastic opportunity for med students on break between 1st and 2nd years, for 3rd and 4th year med students during rotations (SMI may count as a rotation at your school), and for other students or young professionals in the allied healthcare field.

More information on this healthcare missions and discipleship program is available on Medical Campus Outreach's website: http://mcophilly.org/smi-philadelphia/. A brief overview, the student application, and links to videos and a student blog are available on that page.

Reliable Used Car Needed

I am a graduating senior at Eastern currently living in Wayne, PA. I was blessed with a terrific internship for the Spring 2013 semester. The internship is due to start on December 17 of this calendar year. I need to secure a car before then; public transit lines don't go near the internship location. If anyone could help me locate a decent and safe used car, I would be deeply appreciative.
