Preschool Information Session

Breaking News: Tenth Church Preschoolwhich opens in September, will now offer a class three days a week for both three and four-year-olds. The four-year-olds will receive special attention with an enriched curriculum to prepare them well for kindergarten.

The preschool will host a Meet-and-Greet the director on Thursday, April 25 from 7-8 pm to give families a chance to meet its new director, Pam Nothacker, and hear about the preschool. The board would love to have you come and would be so grateful if you could extend an invitation on its behalf to other families who might be interested.

e. e. cummings was a 20th century poet (who liked small case spellings). I am not aware of his being a Christian but certainly a believer in a creator. I remember singing the first stanza of this poem in my college Intervarsity group.

The Warning

Proverbs 15:10

There is severe discipline for him who forsakes the way;
whoever hates reproof will die.


Understand clearly, there may be two options to choose for how you want to live, but there is only one option if you want eternal salvation. Forsake the righteous way of the Lord, and you will suffer punishment. Reject the reproof intended to put you on the right path, and you will die. As the previous proverbs noted, the way of wickedness is regarded as an abomination to the Lord, who is your Judge. And as the next proverb will make clear, this Judge sees all!

Righteousness

Proverbs 15:9

The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
but he loves him who pursues righteousness.

God is not lukewarm, neither about sin nor righteousness. He does not look upon us with indifference; he does not find sin humorous, nor does he regard righteousness mildly. He hates sin and will judge in his wrath the sinner; he loves the righteous, preparing for them a place of glory. Therefore pursue righteousness!

Bethany Walk-a-thon in Ambler

Abomination

Proverbs 15:8

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
but the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him.

It is bad enough to act wickedly and ungodly and to think you can get away with bad behavior. But to feign reverence for God, to pretend to love God, or pretend to repent? God will not be mocked. And if it is possible for him to be angrier over one sin than another, be sure that his greatest anger is against those who try to drag him over to be identified with their wickedness.

Spreading Knowledge

Proverbs 15:7

The lips of the wise spread knowledge;
not so the hearts of fools.

The wise spread knowledge that is useful, that makes one wiser, that is good. Fools spread information that is false or perverted or that harms. Fools often think they are spreading knowledge, not realizing that they are revealing their foolishness. They like to hear themselves talk and think others like listening to them. The wise speak only as necessary, weighing their words so as to speak appropriately and to meet their proper intention.
