Prayer for Boston

Our Father,

Grant your mercy to the heart-broken, the wounded, and the traumatized.
Bring comfort, healing, and peace.

Use the sympathy of family, friends, neighbors, even of strangers to comfort.
Use the skill of doctors, nurses, and other medical providers to heal.
Use the love of all to bring peace.
May love overcome the act of hatred.

Grant justice to the city and our nation.
Use the skill of the law enforcement to investigate, determine, and arrest the perpetrator(s).
Use the law system to render just verdict.

Grant restoration to the wounded victims, their families, the city, and our nation.
May the victims become victors in the days ahead in overcoming their physical and mental wounds.
May their families and other loved ones find strength and peace.
May the city come together and its officials work together to make the city community stronger.
May the nation experience greater unity and resolve to promote justice, charity, and peace.

Grant the gospel an open door.
May those who know the gospel be instruments of comfort and healing.
May the gospel shine all the more clearly amidst anguish and hate.
May the gospel bring true comfort and true peace.

In Christ's name, Amen.
