Elevator Construction

The construction crew is working hard to get the elevator and classrooms ready. The elevator is actually constructed and operating, though not for our use yet. Plans are to have the handicap ramp on the side ready by September 12. Then the front temporary ramp comes down. Pray for the crew, for their safety and ongoing good work.

Day of Prayer

The quarterly Day of Prayer is this Sunday. Instead of the usual adult Bible school classes, we will meet together for prayer. During the 9:00 hour, the prayer session will be in Fellowship Hall West. Try to remember to come up the stairs on the west side (where the door leading into the alley way is) since children will be on the east side. For the 11:00 hour, the prayer session will be in the 315 building, first floor in the rear.

Letter from Session in Colombia

Dear brothers and sisters of the Sovereign Grace:

We want to make it evident the great support that you have offered to the church in the city of Santa Marta. Your outreach trips to our community have been useful for the development of the work, and testimony that we are a church loved by you and that we are subject of your prayers and actions that honor the Sovereign God, a genuine service in accordance with the Gospel.

In the outreach trip from August 6th to 12th, a compassionate care to more than 300 people, evangelizing as well as with works of mercy was accomplished. A man gave thanks to God and to us because for more than 10 years he had been unable to have glasses and to be examined; he was very happy and grateful for this act of love. All the children of Hogar La Providencia and the children of the John Calvin school were taken care of and they were given medicines, glasses and eye drops.

Praisemakers and Schola

Praisemakers music class, for all 4- & 5-year olds, begins on Sunday morning, September 12th, in Fellowship Hall East. During the 11am service, children will be dismissed during the 2nd hymn, and can be picked up when the service is over. We’re so excited that Miss Christy will be teaching for the Fall & Winter quarters. Miss Hye-Jin & Miss Eve are coming on board as Teaching Assistants and we are so thankful that Miss Virginia is returning again to help out as well!

Schola Cantorum kicks off September 19th, with registration taking place before and after the 11am services on September 5th, 12th and 19th. Children in grades 1-6 can be dropped off Sunday nights at the 315 building between 6-6:15pm and should be picked up immediately following the evening service in the Delancey Street lobby.

The September hymn is #4 (Trinity Hymnal)- All Praise to God, Who Reigns Above (Mit Freuden Zart). Students need only do the first 2 stanzas from memory for September’s hymn, since we only meet for last part of the month.

WEC Day of Prayer--October 9

On Saturday, October 9, from 9:00 am-1:00 pm, believers in the Philadelphia region are invited to gather for prayer at WEC's headquarters. Here's a snippet from the invitation:

"Come and bring other friends who want to pray. We will have large group times of sharing from around the globe and then break into small groups for more concentrated prayer for specific areas.

"Together we will create an international lunch to share with each other. Please contact Sue to let her know what you may like to bring. If you are unable to bring something, fear not, there will be enough for all who attend."

Email Lynn at WEC with questions.

Salt and Light

Samaritan's Purse recently produced a video featuring two of our own partners! The video focuses on medical work at Galmi Hospital and our partner's experience treating patients there. It's an excellent video that offers insights into how we can continue to pray for our friends living and working in a very different place.

But don't take my word for it. See it for yourself here.
