Letter from Session in Colombia
Dear brothers and sisters of the Sovereign Grace:
We want to make it evident the great support that you have offered to the church in the city of Santa Marta. Your outreach trips to our community have been useful for the development of the work, and testimony that we are a church loved by you and that we are subject of your prayers and actions that honor the Sovereign God, a genuine service in accordance with the Gospel.
In the outreach trip from August 6th to 12th, a compassionate care to more than 300 people, evangelizing as well as with works of mercy was accomplished. A man gave thanks to God and to us because for more than 10 years he had been unable to have glasses and to be examined; he was very happy and grateful for this act of love. All the children of Hogar La Providencia and the children of the John Calvin school were taken care of and they were given medicines, glasses and eye drops.
In general, the communities of the neighborhood where Calvary Church is located, and the new city, were taken care of from 8 AM to 6 PM. In the Berlin community, which is a region where high risk displaced people live, they were well taken care of, giving this way a push to develop a new (Christian) community there.
Something that we should point out was the very good relationship between the short-termers and the work teams of Calvary Church and La Puerta Church. We felt a great support for the work that we are carrying out and encouraged us to continue serving the Lord with enthusiasm.
With the economic support that was left we bought doors for the warehouse (pantry) and kitchen, some electric parts, food, shoes, workbooks and other necessities of the children at The Hogar.
We give thanks to God and to Tenth Presbyterian Church and each of the short-termers that came this year, and we pray that in your future outreach plans we are taken into consideration.
To all our brothers and sisters, may the Sovereign God continue strengthening your lives.
