A Theology of Caring

I received this encouraging email today from a member of a Maryland church: I was searching the net and came across your article, "A Theology of Caring," and I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated it. I appreciated it so much I have passed it on to numerous people in my church. The timing is interesting as we are just starting a Caring Committee. It is also interesting because I have read about 20 books in the past few years on Mercy ministry and somehow you have distilled them all down into one article. To read the article click here.

Our Girl Friday

Amy Carpenter and her Girl Friday business will be featured on Action News tonight at 11 pm.

How to Deal Wisely with Homeless People

Many men and women have shared with me how they been taken in by con artists/homeless persons. They are not alone as I also have been "taken" by the best of them. Because of that I have written an article I believe is helpful. Other churches have copied it for the use of their own congregants. Click here to read it.

Unnamed sources have informed me that they have probable cause to believe that Bob Yang has proposed to Jessie Bible and that it is likely she accepted.

Sitt'in in an Airport Station...

Ginger and I are sitting at the Philadelphia airport. Our plane to Florida, scheduled to leave at 11:10 am never arrived. The airline company hopes to get another plane here sometime around 4:00 pm. We are determined to get to Florida. I ended up in the hospital Friday morning after a brutal night of symptoms that should not be put on the internet. Came home Saturday night, recuperated yesterday, and determined to fly today. Am beginning a two-week study leave. And yes, I do work. My last two study leaves, I produced the Speaking the Truth in Love and the What Matters documents. This year, I am working on support materials for primarily for elders, but should be useful to anyone involved in ministry.
