If you're a college student, grad/seminary student, or young professional, mark your calendar now! October 9-11 will be citycollege&career's Annual Fall Retreat, and you really don't want to miss it! Doug Logan will be speaking from Hebrews 12.

The cost is $35 for the whole weekend, but scholarships are available. Everyone will carpool, so it's not a problem if you don't have a car.

LIFE Services

LIFE (Living Independently for Elders) is hosting an open house on August 26. LIFE is a program of all-inclusive care for the elderly. LIFE aims to foster independence and health, preserve dignity, and maintain frail elders in the community as long as possible. LIFE offers "one stop-shopping" for total healthcare needs, using a team approach to provide services that are custom tailored, high quality, and comprehensive. The LIFE/UPenn program has been in existence since 1998. Our new state of the art center located at 4508 Chestnut Street opened on April 3, 2007. As a way to integrate the program into the surrounding communities, we are hosting an open house. The open house will consist of a presentation, video about PACE, and a tour of the building.

Your Chance to Live in the Promised Land

Bedroom available for rent in the Southern Kingdom of the Promised Land (aka South Jersey).

Two Christian men have an opening for a third roommate in their 3-bedroom apartment. Rent is $400/mo + utilities (about $40-60/mo).

Contact Jon if you are interested or have any questions.

Where in the world is Dr. Bruce McDowell?

A couple of us on staff have joked about creating a "Where's Bruce?" book, ala "Where's Waldo?", in which readers must spot our mustached minister with safari hat and sunglasses amid a sea of different people groups and nationalities.

Cartooning is not part of my skill set, but posting documents on our website is! I've just created a new section that will detail the travels of our beloved minister, for your prayers and encouragement.

The first installment?

Killing snakes while on a walk.

Shooting birds for dinner (on your first try).

Preaching to thousands of people, with over 50 making professions of faith.

Delta Frequent Flyer Miles Needed

We just received this email from our partners Harold and Becky:

"A quick question to see if there are any frequent flyer miles available in 2009 to pass on to Harold and me. We have some miles with Delta already but not enough to fly back from the field to/from the States over this this coming Christmas vacation.

"Thanks for your prayers. We have some hard decisions about when we will still be able to see my Mom and when to next see her. She has cirrhosis of the liver. The doctors think she will graduate to heaven in the next several month so we are looking at coming back for Christmas and a family wedding on Jan 2nd (my niece's ...her mom was killed in an auto accident 3 years ago)."

If you have Delta miles to donate, please email Liz.
