In Need of Grace

What website do ministers check out? Probably the most popular one is The Gospel Coalition. So, I am taking a look and there he is - Paul Tripp beginning a new weekly column. The topic is one that I knew was becoming an increasing passion of his that had developed during his speaking engagements. Invariably, ministers would come up to him and share their struggles. Read this article in which Paul shares from his own experience the heart issues that pastors face. (And grow in admiration of Luella!) Don't forget, he will be preaching this coming Sunday morning.

32 and 10

Thirty-two years ago today at noon, I watched my bride Ginger walk down the aisle in Hyannisport on Cape Cod. After stopping while someone caught her veil swaying in the wind from an open door (that was open to provide some breeze from the sweltering temperature), and after me regaining vision from being blinded by half the guests taking flash pictures when she reached the front, we made our vows.

Twenty-two years later on the same day, Jonathan Olsen watched his bride Rachel walk the aisle and make vows with him.

Both wives have proven to be resilient, a quality highly valued in wives married to uh...well...hhmm...unpredictable husbands.

Parish 1 prayer and fellowship

Please join other Parish 1 members this Tuesday night, August 2, for a time of prayer and fellowship beginning at 6:30 pm in Fellowship Hall. Snacks will be provided. The ability of redeemed city dwellers to step out and meet the needs of a broken city will depend largely on prayer and people coming together. This enables those with common interests and skills to intersect and serve together. We hope to see you there!

Please invite your other Parish 1 friends.

Pastor Jon

Yesterday, George McFarland, Andrew Fletcher, and I visited Tenth's daughter church, Grace and Peace, so that we could present a resolution on behalf of Session giving thanks for Jonathan Olsen's ministry to Tenth. We had a wonderful experience of worship and fellowship. Here is the resolution presented, as well as the Tenth Press article about him in Sunday's bulletin.
