Pet First Aid & CPR Training

When your Dog or cat needs you most, will you be ready? If you're like the other 44 million dog and cat owners, your dog or cat is more than a pet- your dog or cat is family. And just like any other member in the family, your dog or cat deserves to be cared for and protected. Do you know how to:
Care if your pet is poisoned?
Care if your pet is suffering from a burn?
Care if your pet is choking?
Care if your pet is in shock?

Contact Sam Thomas by email or phone sam@phillycprclasses.com, 610.470.9070 to protect yourself and the pet from further harm, injury or suffering during emergencies.

Bring on the Pancakes!

Someone thought this group was a fraternity reunion having breakfast. Notice I am not in the picture. I was walking (probably 9 miles against the wind) to the house where we were meeting for our pastoral staff retreat. How the others could put more food in their mouths after a Paul Tripp dinner, I don't know.

He's only half the age of John Calvin, but today marks the 25oth birthday of Charles Simeon. Click here to learn about him.

Winston Justice

Jonathan Olsen alerted me to this article about Winston Justice on the front-page of the Sports section of yesterday's Philadelphia Inquirer. Winston and his family have attended Tenth. He and Jason Avant helped out with the Christian Street outreach this summer.

More volunteer tutors needed!

Our partners Dennis and Judy have recently been flooded with requests for English tutoring. One immigrant from a war-torn country met them and ended up bringing 25 other friends for tutoring!

Tutoring is held at a sister church in the northeast on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30 pm. Babysitters are needed to watch small children during this time.

Also, homework helpers are needed on Saturday morning to assist immigrant children with their school work.

And if tutoring is not your thing, Dennis and Judy will still put you to good use--as a painter! The rooms they meet in are in desperate need of fresh coat of paint.

For more info or to volunteer, contact Liz.

Sermon Request

Dear Phil,

As you know, I am not one to complain, but I think you need to reconsider this sermon series on love. I am not being defensive, but the examples of being irritable struck me as hitting a little too close to home (not that I am saying that they apply to me).

Sincerely (and written in love),
Marion

Tutoring Help Needed

Christ Liberation Fellowship is looking for volunteers to participate in their tutoring ministry which is held at the Haddington Library located at 65th and Girard Avenue. Tutoring will be in basic subjects (math, reading and science) on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3 and 7 p.m. If interested please contact Lance Lewis with the day, time and subject you wish to tutor.

Room for Rent

Location: the Fairmount area of Philadelphia on Cambridge St., between 28th & 29th Sts. The Philadelphia Art Museum and Kelly Drive is only about a 10 minute walk and there are lots of great restaurants and bars nearby.

It is a newly renovated two bedroom rowhome with one bathroom, heat, and central air. I have a small, 30 pound dog (beagle/french bull dog mix), who is very sweet and friendly. Rent for one person would be approximately $537.50 plus utilities. Security, first, and last month's rent would be needed at the time of signing the lease.

I would prefer only Christian women to respond please. I need someone to move in by November 1. You can contact me at 856-577-6023 or send me an email if you have any further questions.
