Room wanted by August

My name is Jasmijn. I am moving to Philadelphia in August to work with City Year, mentoring/tutoring youth in a local high school. I am currently looking for a place to live. If you live in University City, Center City, or Manayunk and have an extra room or would be open to renting out ($500 or less), please contact me by the end of July.

I'm responsible, clean, and try to be as friendly as possible. And, if I were to live with a family, I would be willing to pay them rent and to serve them in whatever capacity they needed.

Safe in Oslo

At least one bomb has exploded in Oslo, perhaps two. My daughter Jean and son-in-law Lucas are not near the explosions and are safe.

Now there are shootings at a youth camp in Norway. The best news source I've found is here.

What?

Well, I went to see audiologist Dr. Maxine Young today, also known as a member and deaconess at Tenth. No, my wife did not send me. I went on my own volition. I was hoping she would help me to understand our Senior Minister. Anyhow, she gives a thorough hearing examine, though I'm not sure why I had to repeat "mushroom" and "outside," or listen for beeps in one ear while the sound of rushing wind is blowing into the other. But she did, after it was all over, help me to understand just what my hearing needs are and the next steps to take, such as telling everyone else to stop muttering! (No, she didn't really say that, although I hope Liam gets the hint.)

Surveying

I see in the emails that yet another survey is being prepared. This one has to do with your thoughts on the church website and other forms of electronic communication. (Your opportunity to comment on the excellencies of my blog.) I believe this will make the third survey, the other two being on young adults and vocations. I understand there has been some questions about what has yet to be addressed or omitted.

SMI Prayer Request

Please pray for Anne Brown, Director of Medical Campus Outreach's SMI Philly, and Mark Brown's wife. Her father suddenly passed away last Thursday night in Alabama. Pray also for the SMI Philly students - they are a wonderful group of mature leaders who are really stepping up to lead the project. Many people have trusted Christ as Savior because of the medical outreaches we are doing in North Philadelphia.
