The Good Life
Proverbs 12:21
No ill befalls the righteous,
but the wicked are filled with trouble.
The “ill” addressed by this
proverb is the ill of retribution. The wicked are filled with such trouble
because they continually rile up grievances. They must protect themselves from
the enemies they have created by their stealing and cheating and offending.
Paul Jones is getting a little wild this Christmas. He is having 16 percussionists to play one song for the Lessons and Carols Services. Percussionists are musicians who hit and shake things. I suspect they will be using instruments, as opposed to the trash cans and matchstick boxes I saw the folks on "Stomp" use. Don't forget the time of both services - 7:15. You who are experienced know that being out front when the doors open at 6:30 is the best way to obtain seating. Read more »
Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
but those who plan peace have joy.
Delve into the heart of the
evil-doer and you will find a heart filled with lies. There are the lies he has
in store for others – lies by which to cheat, to manipulate, to do whatever he
thinks necessary to obtain joy.
Join us this Sunday for our services. AM (9 & 11): Dr. Liam Goligher preaching, “A Son Is Given—Son of God” (Hebrews 2:14–18). Hymns: Joy to the World! The Lord Is Come; Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming; Angels We Have Heard on High. Our Lessons & Carols Service will take the place of the evening service, starting at 7:15 pm (doors open at 6:30).
Staff and students put together this video serenade as a way of wishing you a Merry Christmas. Our students' joyful singing is sure to put you in the holiday spirit.

From all of us Spruce Hill/CCA, we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Truthful lips endure forever,
but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
A lying tongue creates a momentary sensation. It riles the
emotions as it makes the headlines. But the lie eventually is buried, along
with the liar. It is not the lies that are recalled from history, but the words
which are noble, which are inspiring, which spread light on truth. And so those
who speak such truth are remembered for their words.
Continue to pray for and support your local police officers. Remember us chaplains who seek to encourage the officers who serve the area around Tenth Church (District #9, 21st and Hamilton Streets). Tonight we are providing a sit-down dinner Christmas party forthese men and women in blue as a "Thank you."
Kee Pyon is in need of one "strong man" to move some furniture from her small rowhome in Upper Darby, PA to a residence in Stratford, NJ on Saturday December 22 at 12:30pm. She will pay at least $100 or $20/hr and the cost of transportation/toll. Please contact Kee at keehpyonATyahoo.comor 215-834-9982 for more information.
There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts,
but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
We need to understand the
consequence of our rash words – words which we speak without giving
consideration to the person to whom we are speaking. Rash words are the ones we
speak in anger. They are the flippant remarks we make. They are the “speaking
my mind” words and the “I say what I think” words. Understand that whatever the
intent may be, the effect is that of thrusting a sword into another person’s
spirit.
You are invited to Delaware County Christian

Have you ever seen a child’s face when he opens an
unexpected and wonderful gift? It beams with joy! That was the look that one member
of our Veteran’s Group study had when he opened his new Bible today. Thanks to
a tradition started by a Tenth family, each year one person is selected from
Tenth Mercy Ministry to receive a Bible. Praise God for His indescribable gift!
Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence,
but a false witness utters deceit.
The two lines seem redundant, but the focus appears to be on
the end result of each person. The truth speaker gives “honest evidence.” Don’t
you feel good by that expression – honest evidence? Your inner sense of justice
is aroused, even you aesthetic sense of beauty. Honest evidence – yes, this is
right; this is good. That is what truth does – it brings forth rightness and
goodness.
