Presbytery Examination
Philadelphia Presbytery has a called meeting next Wednesday evening to examine and (hopefully) receive Will Spokes. Here is how the process works.
Will has been called by the Session of Tenth to serve as an Assistant Minister. He is already an ordained minister - a Teaching Elder of our denomination, the PCA, and a member of Eastern Carolina Presbytery. He now must transfer into the Philadelphia Presbytery. To do so, our presbytery will examine him on "Christian experience, and also touching [his] views in theology, the Sacraments, and church government." If he were applying to become ordained, he would be examined on his knowledge in these areas; because he is ordained, the presbytery is simply seeking to understand his views. His more exhaustive examination will actually take place the evening before when he will go undergo a thorough examination by the presbytery's credentials team.
Trusting all goes well, presbytery will then approve the Session's call and literally place the document it is written on in his hands.
