E-Z Pass

Just signed up for the E-Z Pass to go through tolls. If you are interested, I went to this website: www.paturnpike.com/ezpass.

Great idea, Marion. I have been a happy E-Z Pass user for 6 years. It is a great time saver if you travel bridges and/or toll roads in this area, and costs nothing extra except a $10 deposit for your transponder.

I second that - I've been using it for about 10 years now I think (started with it in New York city). It is a real time saver.

And I should mention that it is NOT just for those who use the bridges, etc. everyday. It's not like the old stickers where you had to cross so many time a month to make it worthwhile, with EZ-Pass you pay the regular rates, and if you do use it frequently enough they send you a rebate. Plus some roads on the EZ-PASS system actually give a discounted rate if you use have it.

We've used it all the way to Canada, and on the Peace Bridge. If I sound like a cheerleader, it's because as a consultant I drive all over, and it has been quite a time-saver, it's safer (no trying to find bills or change while driving).

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I there is a certain satisfaction in zooming through the tolls while leaving the lines of cars behind me at the tolls. "So long suckers!" Feel free to report me to my Parish Elder for discipline. Of course, if everyone were using it those lines likely wouldn't be there and I would be robbed of my fun.

John-
Very courageous of you to admit your EZ Pass sins. :-)

Actually, since the EZ Pass transaction is inherently faster (and safer, as you mentioned) than the ticket transaction, I think it would still be more efficient even if everyone used it. Plus, you wouldn't have those certain occasions when you get behind someone who mistakenly goes through the EZ Pass lane and stops to look for a ticket...
