A Time to Listen (to Children)
David Smith sent this in to me:
A prayer request and praise: My mom, who will be 72 Nov. 3 is in very poor health and does not appear to have much longer to live. Tonight, we told Gresham (7) and Isaac (4) that we are going to see grandma this weekend, because she is sick and not likely to get better. After clarifying with them that this meant grandma was likely to die soon, Gresham's response was: "It's just like pastor Ryken said, God has a time for everything." Young ears are listening, and can make sense of what is said from our pulpit.

Amen, they often listen better then we do!! We will be praying for your whole family at this time.
We were only able to see Barbara for about 30 minutes total because she tired easily, but she was alert and able to converse normally. She did reluctantly agree to go through dialysis. She is really not able to move around very well on her own, and for the past several days she has had periods of really incoherent conversation, but I think they are talking of discharging her soon. That's a concern. The trip went well considering we had to travel at least 6 hours a day for 4 days in a row. No major melt downs and no yucky hotel experiences! We did have a "Hi, I'm Isaac and I'm 4" moment. Barbara commented how glad she was that we had come to see her, and Isaac, with the casual ease of a farmer shooting the breeze, responded "Yeah, we wanted to come down and see you one last time before you die." Thankfully she has a good sense of humor.
Thanks for the prayers.
Tracy
