Sunday Roads Closed

This Sunday, October 16, the Philly Aids Walk will take place. This is what it means for worshipers traveling to church: Closed because of the AIDS Walk & Run Besides Eakins Oval, closed, according to police, will be: -- Kelly Drive. -- Martin Luther King Drive. -- Spring Garden Street eastbound from Spring Garden Street Bridge to Pennsylvania Avenue (near the Art Museum). -- Ben Franklin Parkway (center lanes). The event begins at 8:00 a.m. Also: The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure will pass such "cheering stations" at Independence Mall between Fifth and Sixth Streets (7:45-9:15 a.m.) and Second Street between Pine and South (11:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m.), before having closing ceremonies at the Navy Yard, Intrepid Avenue and Broad Street, starting about 4:30 p.m. Participants will be using the sidewalks and streets will not be closed. (But try crossing an intersection!)
