OWEN: When we were missionaries in the Philippines a friend from my hometown came to adopt a boy from an orphanage in the southern part of the Philippines. I remember thinking of the incredible significance of his adoption. Owen was an orphan; he most likely came from extreme poverty, and from a Muslim background. Two loving parents, who had financial means, stability, and a strong Christian home, adopted him. The contrast and change for Owen was obvious. He received a new name and a new hope. more
