Healthcare Precautions

Some of you may be wondering if it is safe to come to church with the present concerns about the flu. We have consulted with a physician who advises us to maintain our usual practices of safety.

Parents, here is the policy for maintaining sanitary and health hygiene in the nursery. This email was sent out earlier this week to the nursery workers by Lisa Ryken, director of the nursery:

With the recent flu concerns, I thought I would take a minute to remind you about nursery hygiene. Please remember to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer when you come into the room, after every diaper change, and after wiping noses. If a child chews on a toy it should be placed in the sink when he or she is done with it so that it can be washed. The toys and all surfaces should be washed with bleach solution (in the spray bottle) at the end of the 11:00 service and the evening service.

Our illness policy is as follows:

Young children are especially susceptible to communicable (readily spreadable) illnesses, so we ask that you do not bring your child if he or she has any of the following symptoms within the previous 24 hours:

•fever greater than 100°F

•vomiting and/or diarrhea

•runny nose of any color, or cough less than 5 days old

•any possible eye infections such as pink eye or a crusty discharge

•contagious skin infections such as impetigo or weeping lesions

•systemic illness without other symptoms such as listlessness or lethargy

The proctor staff should catch kids before they go into the room, however sometimes kids get sick during their time in nursery. If a child is very listless a parent may need to be called.

This policy also applies to workers! If you are sick please try to find a sub. If you are not able to (especially on short notice) please call and let us know you will not be here.
