More from the Past
I thought I was supposed to be the wise Clark, but in 1971 the church hired A. Clark Wiser as Assistant Minister to work among college students and young adults. (Note: The church later had two Wise sisters, but, alas, Nancy became Hala and Kimberly was carried away by the Wynne.)
The Wiser Clark reported the following for 1972:
The Open Door, formally known as the Free University, is an organization of young people, aging from 17-25, devoted to the growth of our life in Christ....All meetings, whether Friday evenings at 7:30 or Sunday immediately following the evening worship service, are held at the home of our advisors, Rev. and Mrs. A. Clark Wiser.
There is also a report of the Campus and Career committee:
At year end the traditional format and structure of the Campus and Career group was abandoned for a new structure focusing on "The Joyful Sound," the coffee-house type of ministry that now takes place at Tenth Church each Sunday night. This program is accompanied by a weekly social on Saturday nights and by a series of mid-week Bible studies that many attend. A new service group called "The Life Line" is available to others for help and counseling.
