Hosts for Hospitals

HOSTS for HOSPITALS (HfH) is a non-profit agency providing free lodging and caring support in private homes for patient-families coming to Greater Philadelphia for specialized medical care.  (www.hostsforhospitals.org).  

As needed we email the broader public when in our network we don't have homes available for specific families.For the next 3-4 months we will be receiving lodging requests for patient-families coming from China with childrento receive treatment at the Wills Eye Institute in Center City.  We are lodging one such family now.  A second family arrived yesterday, May 28.  A half-dozen more families will be arriving this summer.

We are reaching out to members of the Philadelphia Chinese community, and to the Greater Philadelphia community in general, to volunteer to host these patient-families from China. 

The way our program works is that the hosts provide all of the sheets, towels, blankets, etc.  The guest-families are responsible for their own food, personal toiletries and transportation.

The second family mentioned above consists of a 3 1/2 year old girl and her 40 year old father. They do not speak English and will not have a car. They have funds for their own food and transportation.  

Anyone interested in lodging these guests or potentially other of the Chinese patient-families 

for at least 2-3 weeks between now and Sept. 15 should contact us ASAP.
