Facebook Competition
I have competition. Tenth has a Facebook page that is managed by Sarah (Fletcher) Boghosian. Sarah is our new website manager for the new website that will be appearing sometime in the spring. But she evidently is too eager to wait until then. Here is a recent email sent to the staff.
Dear Staff and Ministry Leaders,
Dear Staff and Ministry Leaders,
Since I’ve had the opportunity to “revamp” Tenth’s Facebook
page, and since we’re working toward building a Facebook audience of more than
1000 people, I thought I’d let you know that you (ministries and Tenth staff)
can use Tenth’s Facebook page to promote your ministry events and get the word
out about other happenings around the church.
I’ve been doing my best to keep track of pertinent bulletin
announcements and posts on Marion’s blog and to promote them on the Tenth
Facebook page, however, I’m probably missing things that would be of interest
to our audience. So feel free to email me with details of anything you’d like
to get the word out about (just basic info, I can do the write-up), and I’ll
take care of posting it for you.
Things we should especially promote:
·
Special Tenth-sponsored events (even if they’re
really not for a church-wide audience, i.e. something Tenth College Fellowship
is hosting)
·
Special offerings throughout the year
(Thanksgiving offering, Easter Sacrificial Offering etc.)
·
Special church-wide meetings (like the
Congregational Meeting)
·
Special church services
·
Volunteer opportunities/opportunities to serve
·
Conferences
·
Concerts and special musical events (even
special musical guests—possibly SDG?)
·
Guest preachers
·
Parking and driving updates
·
Church-wide news and important information
·
News/events involving Tenth affiliates and
partners that would be of interest to our audience (use your judgment and
discernment here)
For ministries that already have their own Facebook page,
please feel free to let me know when you’ve posted something that you’d like
shared on the Tenth Facebook page (I’ve been trying to do that already by
keeping track of what’s in the Tenth newsfeed, but it’s good to have a system
in place).
Thanks to all of you who Liked Tenth’s Facebook page and
shared it with your friends. We’re already over 700 Likes since last week (up
by almost 50), and we’re getting a lot more traffic and comments on the page
than ever before! People seem to be responding very positively to the updates
so far, and I hope to continue to build on that momentum in the coming weeks
and months.
