Small Group Training
Small
Group Training – Winter/Spring 2013
Instructor:
Rev. Will Spokes, Minister of Outreach
This winter
and spring I will be leading a four-part training for members of Tenth Church
who want to learn how to study the bible and/or lead a small group bible study.
The format of the training will be a combination of teaching and discussion.
Some segments require a bit more teaching while others will allow for more
group interaction. There are four parts to the training:
Session 1: January 19 - 10 AM to 12 PM
in Delancey 1W
-
The
first hour: The Big Picture – Small Groups at Tenth
-
The
second hour: What is the Gospel?
Session 2: February 16 - 10 AM to 12
PM in Delancey 1W
-
The
first hour: Gospel Hermeneutics – A framework for biblical interpretation
-
The
second hour: Gospel Hermeneutics – How to interpret different sections of
scripture
Session 3: March 16 - 10 AM to 12 PM
in Delancey 1W
-
The
first hour: How to study a passage of scripture – finding the main point
-
The
second hour: How to study a passage of scripture – writing good questions
Session 4: April 13 - 10 AM to 12 PM
in Delancey 1W
-
The
first hour: Cultivating a gospel culture in your small group
-
The
second hour: Principles for a healthy small group
In order to get the most
out of the training it is important to try to make all four sessions. If you are not able to make all four sessions, I will try to provide
notes or audio for the sessions you miss. From time to time I may pass on an
article to read in connection with what we are studying. In addition there will
likely be some “homework” in anticipation of session three.
If you are interested in
participating please email me at wspokes@tenth.org
and I will make sure you are included on all future communication related to
this training opportunity.
I look forward to being
with!
Sincerely,
