Worship in the Catacombs
Have you noticed the 11:00 service getting a bit crowded? The numbers are back on the rise. To meet this "problem," we are reintroducing a practice from the '90s which turned out to be perhaps the single greatest factor in building parish identification. Beginning February 12, we encourage Tenth members to worship in the Catacombs on a rotation based on parishes.
Thus, if you are willing and able, Parish 1 members would worship that Sunday downstairs. The next Sunday, February 19, Parish 2 would take a turn. (We'll let you know in the bulletin when it is your turn.)
Is this a requirement? No, purely voluntary.
But I do want you to consider the significant benefit of worshiping as a parish. As I said, we did this back in the '90s when we returned to a single morning service. The result that we were not thinking about is that it provided an opportunity for building community in the parishes and connecting with the parish elders.
Don't know your parish? (That's why this would be good!) In the church lobbies are half sheet flyers that describe each parish, including identifying the zip codes. They also list your elders, deacons, and deaconesses. Or go up to any of the leaders just mentioned; they can tell you.
