South Street Bridge Lights

The Philadelphia Streets Department would like to take this opportunity to thank the community for its support during the reconstruction of the South Street Bridge. The project is nearing completion. The final remaining task is the programming of the decorative lighting on the four bridge towers.


Starting on Friday morning, December 16th we will begin testing the tower lights. Testing may also occur throughout the upcoming weekend (December 17th and 18th). The towers will be illuminated with various test patterns so that the accuracy of the colors and the effectiveness of each lighting element can be determined. The lights will then go dark until they are formally commissioned. Please be advised that the test patterns are not the permanent displays. An additional notice will be sent to you when a date to formally light the towers is determined.
