Sending Forth

Yesterday I attended Epiphany Fellowship in north Philadelphia to take part in the commissioning  of Doug Logan as church planter of Epiphany Fellowship in Camden. This is a joint effort of Epiphany and Tenth. Tenth members Ernest and Sarah Grant are also a part of this work. Ernest is serving as my counterpart for the new church work. Here is the text of a resolution from Tenth that was read in the service.

Whereas Doug Logan served ably as an intern of Tenth Presbyterian Church in conjunction with his internship at Epiphany Fellowship;

And whereas Doug served our church well in leading worship and preaching; And whereas Doug serves as an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America, free to proclaim and practice fully and freely the whole counsel of God, as contained in the Scriptures, and as understood by our creeds;

And whereas Doug’s vision is to plant a church in Camden, NJ, thus meeting our own goal to plant gospel-centered, grace-centered churches in urban areas in and around Philadelphia;

And whereas we are privileged to partner with our sister church Epiphany Fellowship in our mutual efforts to serve Christ’s kingdom;

We, the elders of the Session of Tenth Presbyterian Church, do join with the elders of Epiphany Fellowship in sending forth Rev. Doug Logan to plant a new church in Camden, NJ.

We, furthermore, give our blessing upon all who are joining Doug in this endeavor, including Tenth members Ernest and Sarah Grant. May God’s Spirit be upon them and go before them, granting them favor in their new community, and lead to them men and women whom the Lord has already named His.

By order of the Session of Tenth Presbyterian Church,
George K. McFarland Clerk of Session
