Dear Tenth Members and Friends,

I have just registered for the Estate Planning Dinner and Seminar that our church is sponsoring. It will be held Tuesday, March 8, 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm, at the Union League. Dinner and seminar are free.

I registered after listening to elders Bryce Bartruff and Doug Delong speak to the Session about the value of such a seminar. Both men have attended the seminar that will be given by Bruce Owens, and they raved about the presentation. Doug had written about the seminar in last Sunday's Tenth Press article Here are excerpts:

"How many of us think about what will happen to the blessings God has given to us after we are gone? Estate planning and planned giving are subjects we must all consider! This is the case no matter how old we are or how much the Lord has given to us. Bruce Owens, Director of Estate and Gift Design for the Presbyterian Church in America, Mission to the World (MTW) will lead the seminar. Bruce has been holding these seminars for many years and is very knowledgeable about estate planning. I had the pleasure of attending a pilot seminar held at the church last year. Bruce not only imparted valuable information on the subject, but more importantly, he approached planned giving from a biblical perspective. Bruce is excellent at bringing the spiritual and the practical together in order to prompt us to more wisely plan for the future. As a note, Bruce does not discuss gifts to specific organizations or recommend any investment firm or funds.

"Free customized personal estate plans will be offered as a follow-up to the seminar. If you choose to fill out a questionnaire, Bruce has expert analysis software to provide you with an estate plan, a comprehensive road map to use with your tax, legal, and investment professionals. These plans will help you convey your goals in a clear and organized manner to your advisors. The plans are thorough and have step-by-step action items."

March 1 is the registration deadline. I easily registered by going through the church website. It took me to the sign-in for ACS. Once I signed in, I registered in a matter of seconds. You can also register by emailing Janice Rankins calling her at 856.374.2788.

Hope to see you then.

Marion Clark
