Update from Colombia Team
Matt Wright, team leader, writes:
"I have only a few minutes to send an update on the Colombia team. We have been very busy here with medical and optical clinics on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. Matt and Jenn Ebling, Meridith Carter, and I have been working in the medical clinic. We have seen 60 to 70 people each day, some with severe problems, some with hardly any problem at all. Harry Landrum and Kathryn and Jacob Stevens have been working in the optical clinic, seeing about 80 people each day. Many Colombian volunteers have helped, too. The pastors and church members have been doing evangelism with people coming to the clinics. Many people who come are already part of the churches, but others are not.
"We will have another clinic day tomorrow. It will be in a new location in Santa Marta, and I do not think we are going to have much space. Wednesday I think we are going to bring the kids from Hogar la Providencia to the beach.
"Praise the Lord that we have experienced very few problems so far! Perhaps the worst problem was that my bag of juggling props (which I use for juggling skits that share the gospel) was left in a taxi on Saturday. Fortunately, we had called for the taxi, and so we had the taxi number written down. A member of the church, who is also a taxi driver, was able to track down the taxi and retrieve my bag! Speaking of juggling, the Zacchaeus story told with Chinese yo-yo has been a big hit.
"We appreciate your prayers! Pray for our endurance in the clinics, that we would truly help the people, that they would come to know Christ, and for our fellowship with the Colombians. Pray also for our health and safety during the remainder of the trip."
