The Church and the City
A recent study done by The Brookings Institute states, “the more that churches are active in their communities, the lesser the neighborhood problems. The more children who attend Sunday School the lesser the crime rate.” The study recognizes that the Church, alone, has the solutions to urban problems. Nothing in this world is as important as eternal life through Jesus Christ. Our cities need Christ. Our city neighbors need Christ. Real solutions to the vast problem facing the cities must come from the Church.
The city is a most crucial place to minister. We need to love the city with the passion of Christ and win it to him. Our conference participants will share how Christ alone can transform persons and families, and neighborhoods, and how He, alone, can bring about confession, repentance, restoration and reconciliation. I hope you will be encouraged and challenged by this Conference to sincerely pray about What the Lord requires of you and that you, too, will be conformed into his image in order to think and act biblically in the city.
