Preaching Grace

I don't often take issue with Phil (except in sports), but in his posting "Preaching Grace" in reformation21, he reveals himself to be either a bad critic of his own preaching or over striving for modesty. Click the reformation21 link on the right to check it out or try clicking here. Too bad that blogsite doesn't allow comments. But mine does and feel free to weigh in.

I probably haven't had enough cups of coffee yet, but I have been unable to locate the particular article you are referring to at Reformation 21. Any suggestions?

Susan: The "article" Marion was refering to is Phil's latest blog on the Reformation21 site. Follow Marion's link to the Ref21 homepage and then on the left side of their homepage find the link to their blog page. Phil's comments on "Preaching Grace" are dated for Jan 26.

Wow, three helpful comments in an hour! Thanks so much. Pumped full of coffee and instruction, I have found the article.

I agree with Marion in that I have to disagree with Dr. Ryken. Rare is the week that I do not come away from the worship service having been deeply edified by the blessed Gospel of Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that he has faithfully preached. I suspect that those weeks when I do not experience such a blessing is due to my own poor preparation for worship and not to preaching that is lacking.

I quickly add that I am so thankful to the Lord that our Pastor is tough on his own preaching. It demonstrates that he profoundly understands the weightiness of his responsibility in the pulpit, an understanding that many contemporary preachers lack.
