Reading Literature as Christians
Pat Canavan thinks I have the sleeper class for summer Bible school. That's "sleeper," not "sleepy." Here is the description for Reading Literature as Christians:
“Tenth teachers and writers take us through a variety of genres, books, and authors, helping us to appreciate the creativity God has granted to both Christians and nonChristians in presenting truth, insight, and beauty.”
I invited a number of Tenth teachers and writers to teach on whatever they wanted to in the field of literature. Here is the schedule that evolved (I mean "created").
June 9 – Marion Clark: Why read literature
July 14 – Neal Robbins: Detective Fiction
July 28 – John Canavan: William Blake

Hey Marion...Would this class be able to be videotaped? Or at least audiotaped?? ( or whatever it is called these days ) RECORDED!! That's the word I was looking for....
They all sound terribly interesting for those of us with Libraries in our homes...but more than likely there will be people watching small children or working in the nurseries who would LOVE to attend every week but can't.
Just a thought.
This looks like a good class. We did some of this during the quarters that we did "Christianity and the Arts". We had a wonderful response to works like Dostoyevsky and T.S. Elliott. It is high time to do this class!
