RE-8: Art for the City

Saturday, May 18, 4pm-7pm, the intersection of 8th and Butler Streets, Hunting Park, Philadelphia

In 2007, Rev. Andy Kim (WTS MDiv) planted 8th St. Community Church at the intersection of 8th and Butler Streets in Hunting Park, Philadelphia--the same intersection where, back in the 80s, the so-called "Blue Tape Warriors" sold with impunity massive quantities of illegal drugs. Andy recently managed to purchase an abandoned building on the opposite corner, hoping to rehabilitate it and use as a community center. But even with a great deal of generous help, the community center remains far from useable.

We'd like to invite you to "RE-8," a site-specific project curated by Tenth members Sabina Tichindeleanu and Emilie Keim. RE-8 will consist of original works on paper exploring a theme of re-habilitation, re-storation, re-newal--of 8th St Community Center.

These works on paper will be for sale and all proceeds go directly to the renovation of 8th St. Community Center. Donations of any amount will also be most gratefully accepted.
See Art Grind for more information (and subscribe to receive updates), or write to Sabina. If you won't be able to attend RE-8 but would like to support the community center, write to Pastor Andy Kim.
