Wagons and Cones

We need your wagons - three of them, to be precise.

Here is what's going on. The experience of the past month monitoring on-street parking is that where there is a cone, proper parking will be observed. To cover the parking in our permitted area, we need to place 40 cones. Yes, 40.

To place 40 cones in the morning, take them up in the afternoon, and then place them again in the evening and picked up yet again, takes a lot of time for the one or two sextons on duty, who already have much to take care of.

But if we had volunteers taking a "zone" the work load for any individual is ten minutes. So, I am now recruiting volunteers for that duty. The wagons are for carrying the cones.

Would you volunteer? I am especially asking those of you who drive in and park on the street. Would you be willing to serve on a rotation that takes 10 minutes of your time? Here is what would be involved.

You would select one or more time slots to place and/or pick up cones. Here are the times. To place cones, the times are 8:15a and 5:30p. To pick up cones, anytime beginning a half-hour into the morning and evening services to sometime after the services. Maps will be provided showing where the cones are to be placed and picked up in each zone. You would simply take a wagon in the fenced area on Delancey Street, walk your route, and return the wagon.

It is a simple job, yet vital in providing a long-term, consistent means of keeping our on-street parking under control. Will you help? Email me to volunteer or ask questions.
