Christianity Explored

Dear Tenth Church Family,

As you may have heard, I will be leading a Christianity Explored study this fall which starts Tuesday October 2 and ends Tuesday November 13. We will meet at 6:30 PM at the Black Sheep pub just up 17th street from Tenth. Dinner will be provided and there is no cost to participate.

I am writing to tell you what this study is about and who it is for.

Christianity Explored is a 7 week study of Mark's gospel that seeks to answer three basic questions. First, Who is Jesus? Second, What was Jesus' mission? Third, What does it mean to follow Jesus? The outline of the study is as follows:

Week 1: Good news: What are we doing here?
Week 2: Identity: Who is Jesus?
Week 3: Sin: Why did Jesus come?
Week 4: The Cross: Why did Jesus die?
Week 5: Resurrection: Why did Jesus rise?
Week 6: Grace: How can God accept us?
Week 7: Come and die: What does it mean to follow Jesus?

There will be a time of teaching with ample opportunity for questions and discussion.

Now who is this study for? This study is for anyone who is new to Christianity or who is interested in learning more about Christianity. Perhaps you have friends or neighbors who have questions about Jesus and the bible and what they have heard about Christianity. This study is for them to come and ask questions and contribute to the discussion. But this study is also for any person at Tenth church who would like to grow in their faith especially as it relates to communicating the gospel to our secular and religious friends. Perhaps you are anxious and nervous about talking to your friends about the gospel when you are asked. Or perhaps you just don't know what to say. If that's you then this study is for you. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at wspokes@tenth.org. If you want to participate in this study feel free to register at www.christianityexplored.tenth.org.
