The Problem of Good
My sermon this coming Sunday morning - The Problem of Good - will present the subject matter that I focused on during my sabbatical this past winter. I will be presenting the doctrine of common grace, which provides the biblical answer for the problem of good.
What is the problem of good? It is this: How can the unregenerate, who remain in their sinful and wicked state nevertheless do much good? How do you explain your "good" neighbor who does not profess faith in Christ? If you wish to do some reading on the subject, here are some online resources:
Herman Bavinck, "Calvin and Common Grace."
John Calvin's Institutes, Book 2, Chapter 2, Section 15; online link
