A Note from the Weidenaars

Dear Tenth Family,

Deb and I were concerned when we moved quickly in May that some of our Tenth family did not get the news. I had been laid off from work at the end of March, and my new position with Harvest USA required a quick move – 6 weeks. So we did not have the chance to tell many of you what was going on.

I accepted the position as Director of the Pittsburgh office of Harvest USA in mid-April. We moved to Pittsburgh in late May. Many of you are well familiar with the ministry of Harvest USA, as it was originally founded by Tenth and the ties to Tenth have remained strong through the years. We ourselves had benefited from a Sunday School series Harvest USA presented at Tenth a few years ago, as well as other events, like the men’s seminar last year. We were always grateful for what we perceived to be very insightful and biblical teaching. We are thrilled to now be a part of Harvest USA’s team.

Leaving Tenth has been difficult. Tenth is truly a unique church – the spiritual encouragement we received is hard to replace. The friendships have changed our lives, and we are grateful to God for the time he gave us with you. So our move included excitement to follow God's call intermixed with a sense of much loss.

We have been in Pittsburgh now 2 months and are slowly settling in. I have been training for 2 months and continue to be impressed with all that Harvest is doing to develop teaching materials, minister to individuals, host small groups, and equip churches to do the same.

We are planning to be back in Philly between August 23 and 28. We will be having two small gatherings for the purpose of giving more details about our work in Pittsburgh and seeking prayer & financial support. We would like to invite anyone who is interested, or who would just like to “catch up” with us, to attend one of these meetings. It would be good to just to see your faces and encouraging to hear how you are doing.

Friday, August 24, 7:30 PM, at the home of Collier Kirkland, 656 Lindley, Glenside, PA, 19038. Please RSVP with us by email or at 267.415.1177.

Saturday, August 25, 2:30 PM, at the home of Dan and Kathy Kunkle, 2962 Grisdale Rd., Abington, PA 19001. Please RSVP with us or the Kunkles by email or at 215.830.0283.

Love in Christ,

Jim, Deb, and Abby Weidenaar
