Summer Classes

I am looking at the line-up for the summer Bible school classes. Let's see what we have:

New Members Orientation - That's good. We have a lot of "regular attenders." Hopefully they will take advantage of this class.

Jeremiah in a Nutshell - Bruce Garver is teaching, using Phil Ryken's Courage to Stand. That's okay, but who has heard of Ryken?

The Good News from Moses - Paul Duggan continues the study of Deuteronomy, but it is such a hard book to spell!

The Gospel of Matthew - Robert Polen is still teaching Matthew. Really, how long does it take?

Men's Class - Elders Bob Kempf and Russ Pfeifer are leading a study in Nehemiah, using James Boice's book, Nehemiah - Learning to Lead. But how can you have a men's class and not talk sports?

Hard Sayings of the Apostle Paul - Elder George McFarland and his team are teaching this class, which evidently is going to require hard thinking. I don't know if I would be up to that.

The Transforming Power of the Gospel - Chris O'Brien is leading the class through this Jerry Bridges' book, which gives a presentation of the gospel from Isaiah 6. Maybe, but with Chris' soft voice, it is hard to hear him.

Of Gospel, Good, and Grace - Now here is an interesting class! The alliteration alone catches one's attention. And it so happens that I am the teacher. If you want to know what I did on my sabbatical and if the work was worthwhile, drop in. I will be exploring the world's version of the gospel, the doctrine of common grace and the problem of good, and the place of the cross in understanding them all.
