Proposed Building Acquisition

The Session and Trustees have called for a meeting of the congregation and the corporation of Tenth Presbyterian Church immediately following the 11 am service this Sunday, April 29, 2012. If you are a communicant member of the congregation, you are encouraged to attend. Childcare will be provided.
The congregation will discuss and vote on the following motion:

In accordance with the Session Resolution passed April 24, 2012, we, the members of Tenth Presbyterian Church, resolve. . .
that there is a need for additional space to support current and future ministry work associated with the church.

Therefore, let it be resolved that the Session pursue purchasing the building located at 1716 Spruce Street, Philadelphia. Specifically, the congregation approves that the Trustees of the church offer to the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals the sum of $1,800,000.00 for the full purchase price of the 1716 Spruce Street property in Philadelphia. To this end, the Trustees are empowered to secure the appropriate monies necessary for the purchase of and renovation to the property, informing the Session of their progress and updating the congregation at convenient intervals.

Tenth is in negotiations with the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals to acquire their property at 1716 Spruce Street.  These negotiations are active, but have not concluded at this time.  Session is recommending a positive vote; approval of Tenth's congregation is a necessary condition for the acquisition.

A six page document answering frequently asked questions about the proposed acquisition is available for download here.
