Update from Colombia team (via Bruce)
The team from Tenth arrived without a problem. We received all the plastic bins of stuff that we had packed. We are all doing well. Much of the team has been going swimming in the ocean each evening at about 11:00 pm. There are lights at the beach where we are staying. The weather is very hot here, so we have been trying to stay hydrated.
The team has been working in three groups for the most part, with one doing medical work, another teaching children, and another building the swingset with two slides and a tunnel. Today the latter was finished. We have been well received. On Saturday evening I spoke on the gospel on how to get to heaven as an outreach meeting at the church for about an hour and a half. On Sunday I preached on the second coming of Christ, baptized two Chimila kids from the Hogar, and led the Lord's Supper to a gathering of about 140. We had lunch together afterwards. Monday night we ate dinner at the home of the woman who is now serving as the administrator of the Hogar la Providencia. That was a lovely time. She and her daughter shared their testimonies. The mother had been into Hinduism and yoga. The daughter had been a model. They came to the Lord through Bible study with Jaime Leal.
Last night they had electrical problems at the Hogar. Much of the electrical things in the Hogar were blown out. I bought a new water pump to replace the one that got ruined.
Wednesday we will be taking the team and kids from the Hogar to Taganga, to swim at the beach first, have lunch, then have a medical clinic and door to door evangelism. They are starting a church plant in this town. Thursday afternoon the team will be leaving to Barranquilla, where we will be doing a similar type of program as we have done in Santa Marta.
Lydia, who is living at the Hogar, came from Philadelphia. She has been here six months and learned Spanish fluently in that time through total immersion. She also became a Christian while here! She has been helping our team.
