Thankful to be thankful (and at Tenth)

‎"We will bore holes in his skull to relieve the pressure, but there is little hope your son will live." If he does, he is sure to be a 'vegetable.' " So said the doctor to my mother after I was hit by a car on May 2 at age 5. Thankfully, God saw all this and said, "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy" and saved me. Amen. Thank you, Lord! Yes! Praise you, Lord, for your mercy!

Yes, not only did the Lord save David's life, he granted him an active life; not only an active life, but new life in Christ; not only new life, but a life devoted to service in his Lord's name so that we are the recipients of blessing through David.

I thank God for my brother David, who has been God's own instrument of love and encouragement to me over two decades. David also helps my humility, for on September 21st he reminds me about the anniversary of Chico Ruiz and the heartbreak of 1964. Only aging Phillies fans could understand how deep a friendship must be, to sustain that! And it is. - Steve Bachman
