E-blast News

An e-blast will be going out today to Tenth members and attenders about events surrounding the Golighers arrival and ways to help. Because you are smart enough to read my blog, you get the news first. Here it is:

Dear Church Family and Friends,
The long-awaited day is almost here. Next Sunday, May 15, Dr. Liam Goligher enters the pulpit as our new Senior Minister. Here are plans and events related to the arrival of Liam and Christine.

May 11 - Liam's official start date. As of this Wednesday he will be Senior Minister of Tenth Presbyterian Church.

May 14 - Liam and Christine move in as guests in the home of David Fuller in Haddonfield.May 15 - First Sunday preaching, both morning and evening. That evening will be a Communion Sunday, and so his first officiating of the Lord's Supper.

May 15 - We will subject the Golighers to a "pounding." A pounding is an old church tradition of welcoming a minister and his wife with gifts of groceries (a pound of sugar, a pound of flour, etc). We are including household items. If you want to join in, click here. Then bring it on May 15 either in the morning or evening.

May 22 - The installation service, which will be held in the evening, beginning at 6:15. Dr. Mark Johnston, Senior Minister of Proclamation Presbyterian Church in Bryn Mawr will be the guest preacher. Phil Ryken will also participate and give the charge to the congregation. A light reception will follow. Joyce Ostertag still welcomes homemade cookies. Email her to sign up.

June 4 - The church picnic at the Garrett-Williamson Foundation, 395 Bishop Hollow Rd Newtown Square, PA 19073. Last year we devoted the picnic to saying goodbye to our Senior Minister and family. This year we devote the picnic to welcoming Liam and Christine. You will need to sign up. More information will come.
We have another idea for small groups. Consider putting together a greeting for Liam and Christine. Ideas for a greeting "packet" could include:
- a card signed by members of the Bible study

- a photo of the Bible study with members named

- information about when and where you meet, including a map or directions

- a gift card for something unique in your neighborhood - perhaps a restaurant, shop, plant nursery, or attraction

- a gift card to help with the transition, for example a gift card to Target, Lowe’s, or Trader Joe's

- tickets to an upcoming show, concert, or movie

The Golighers hope to be moving into their new home in University City the week following the installation service. Details are still being worked out. They are scheduled to close on the house on May 25. If help is needed with cleaning and unpacking, we will get word out. Be checking daily my blog site (marionclark.blogspot.com) for news.

Your fellow expectant,
Marion Clark
