Not done with Donne
For those curious about the funeral portrait of John Donne which Phil talked about in his Easter sermon, wonder no more. Now we see it: the hint of the smile, the eyes arched as if they are about to fly open--the portrait of one waiting for the resurrection. We found it at this site which gives more details on how the living Donne posed for it.

Photo of the actual sculpture can be seen on St. Paul's website: http://www.stpauls.co.uk/Cathedral-History/Explore-the-Cathedral-Floor
Accompanying caption: "There is also a marble effigy of John Donne. Donne was a Dean of the Cathedral and one of Britain's finest poets, who died in 1631. It is one of the few effigies to have survived the Great Fire of London - scorch marks can be seen on its base."
I am very grateful for this posting and have attended services in this building w/out knowing this significance. Reason to go back.
